Alan Whitman


Alan Whitman is Baker Tilly’s CEO-elect. Prior to becoming Baker Tilly’s CEO-elect, he was the Michigan managing partner. He joined Baker Tilly Virchow Krause, LLP in 2003 after spending 15 years with a national CPA firm. In addition to his office leadership position, Alan specializes in providing proactive international business solutions to our clients. His previous experience includes leading the Detroit middle-market tax practice for a national CPA firm. Alan serves as a member of our Board of Partners, and chairs our International Steering Committee.

Experience

  • Involved with day-to-day operational issues in managing the Michigan practice
  • Oversees the direction of the region for current and long-term profitability, while managing risk to ensure consistency with firm strategy
  • Manages the business unit’s client service program to ensure maximum customer satisfaction
  • Leads the development of leadership and management platforms
  • Oversees the recruiting and retention efforts to acquire the highest caliber staff and improve employee job satisfaction and performance
  • Works with firm leaders to help formulate and support the firm’s strategies
  • Develops internal policies and procedures that ensure quality service for clients
  • Provides leadership, management, and strategic direction for the Michigan region including client service, staff retention and recruiting, and profitability
  • Implements regional deployment of firm business objectives
  • An active contributor within the Baker Tilly International global network and serves as a founding member of the Network’s Knowledge Sharing Group
