Fred Kaplan


As a Controller, Chief Financial Officer and Management Consultant, Fred has worked with numerous businesses in the Pennsylvania region. His practice focuses on profit improvement, equity and debt funding, and financial operations management.

Prior to joining WeiserMazars, Fred ran Kaplan Financial Consulting Group LLC, advising businesses on their appropriate financing structure and brokering loans from a network of conventional lenders and alternative finance companies. Previously, he served in accounting roles at CIGNA, General Electric Capital Corp and State Street Bank. He later served as Controller for Omicron Consulting, which led to his founding Strategic Business Consulting (SBC) in 1995 with the partners of a regional CPA firm to provide outsourced CFO services. After SBC merged into another CPA firm, he managed the Finance & Accounting consulting practice for Relevante, a project consulting firm. Fred twice served as President of the Philadelphia Chapter of the Institute of Management Consultants USA (IMCUSA), and is a Past President of the North Penn Chapter of the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) and Golden Slipper Camp, a non-profit children’s summer camp.

Fred received a B.A. in Economics from Cornell University and an M.B.A. in Finance from Drexel University. He has taught as adjunct undergraduate faculty at Penn State-Abington and graduate faculty at the Keller School of Management of DeVry University. He frequently addresses business and professional groups on topics including Alternative Finance Solutions, Building a Referral Pipeline, Becoming a STAR Professional and Preventing Lapses in Ethical Behavior.
