Before founding CPA Growth Guides, LLC in 2015, Katie Tolin spent nearly 20 years in professional services marketing. She worked for a local law firm in addition to three CPA firms, which included regional Rea & Associates, super regional SS&G and national BDO, where she developed firm and niche marketing strategy, provided business development support, spearheaded content marketing and public relations efforts and drove product management. Today, she helps CPA firms across the country drive top-line revenue and profitability through data-driven marketing strategies, specialization, inbound marketing and formalized sales processes.
A frequent speaker and author, Katie is a past president of the Association for Accounting Marketing. During her presidency she spearheaded organizational change that resulted in the hiring of the organization’s first executive director, initiated an apples-to-apples comparison of marketing budgets in the industry and launched an environmental scanning council to help AAM keep its finger on the pulse of what’s happening in the industry.
For the past two years, Accounting Today named Katie one of the top 100 most influential people in accounting, and she was one of CPA Practice Advisors’ Most Powerful Women in Accounting in 2015. In addition, she was named Accounting Marketing of the Year in 2010 and has won a total of 12 Marketing Achievement Awards from the Association for Accounting Marketing and a Silver Quill and Best of Division award from the International Association of Business Communicators. Katie is also a contributing author to Bulls-Eye: The Ultimate How-To Marketing & Sales Guide for CPAs.
